Will El Nino end our severe drought?
According to climate scientists, the predicted coming El Nino will not solve the problem. Unfortunately, the prediction is for a "weak to moderate" weather event. Strong El Nino's are associated with lots of rain in California, but anything less may not. The chances of this weather event are 70% by the end of summer, and 80% this winter.
Environmentalists are being pressured to letting new dams be built. Also, desalinization is being pushed as another viable water source. Unfortunately, the builders of these facilities want to dump the warm, byproduct water directly on to the sea floor. That kills marine life. The alternative is buried return lines that do not.
Water is the essential part of life as we know it. What is your opinion?
